How do I access the pattern/dot lock?
If you have the Dot/Pattern Lock upgrade enabled, you can access it buy tapping Reset Pin on the settings page.
William
Hi mate, great app.
Can I suggest a random button or random option for slideshow, that would make it fantastic.
Thanks
i have paid for this app twice, it seems upgrading firmware resets to default whatever setting you have placed in the app’s back end to determine free or paid. not cool.
Chris,
When you perform the in app purchase twice, you should not be charged the second time. The app purchase is remembered by your iTunes user account.
William
I can’t finish updating my private photo vault and this apps is hanging half way and cause all my protected photo can not be accessed anymore. What should I do to complete the update?
Try restarting your phone.
William
Got free version. Did in-app upgrade to pro. Later had to restore phone from backup before I had app installed. Redownloaded free app. Tried in-app upgrade but app is hind with a popup saying “loading.”. End app, reboot phone, try in-app upgrade again with same result. Please help.
Found my problem. In-app purchases were disabled.
David,
Regarding upgrading, if it is stuck on loading. This sounds like a problem with you internet connection. Verify that you are connected to the internet before tapping the upgrade now button. You can also try opening and closing the app from multitasking mode. To do this double tap the iPhone home button, then tap and hold on Private Photo Vault until it shakes. Then tap the red minus button.
Hope this helps,
William
Hi William,
I love this app. This is my situation:
I bought the paid version long ago and have recently upgraded it to the new version with pattern lock. I was fiddling with the cool pattern lock function until I realised that it was setting a new password, and since I couldn’t remember my scribble pattern lock to confirm my second input of the new password, I was stuck in not knowing the new password but also now having the pattern lock as the password. I hope I am making sense.
So I deleted the app from my iPhone and resynced this app, but it is charging me to upgrade again. So I deleted the app again and went to ‘purchased’ app in my app store and tried downloading it from there– same result.
I read the above post of how it shouldn’t charge you twice for the upgrade to pro if you’ve already paid, I have gotten all the way to input your apple password to buy this (to see if it will tell me that I have already paid) but it looks like its going to charge me again if I press buy 1.49£ and put my apple Id in.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Justin
Hey Justin,
I understand the situation that you are in. The purchase is stored to your Apple User ID so it requires that you login with your Apple User ID and password. It will appear as though you are purchasing again, but it will then tell you that you have already purchased this item and that you can download it again for free.
William
Awesome. Thanks again William!
William,
i still can’t finish updating although i restart it. It keeps showing “unable to download application”, what can i do?
Can the paid version import video files that are in the camera roll?
William,
I have a question before I consider purchasing the full version. I’m currently looking for a good photo protection app that suits my needs and this one is certainly a great contender. My question is this: I store photos in the app and then back-up my phone to itunes. For whatever reason my phone happens to get wiped and/or I need to do a restore from my last backup. Will the photos I had stored on my phone in this app at the time of the backup be restored back to my phone under the app?
this is not the case.
when i redownload, it only gives the free version.
when i try to upgrade in app, it hangs forever.
tried loads of times.
Nigel,
The current version of the app does not support video. However, this is planned on being added in a future version.
William
Chris,
If you are having a problem with the In-App Purchase hanging, this sounds like it would either be a problem with your internet or your In-App purchase settings.
Ensure you have an active internet connection and ensure your in-app purchases are enabled.
To make sure that in-app purchases are enabled. Go to your iPhone’s settings –> General –> Restrictions and make Sure In-App purchases are on.
William
ilost my phone and purchased a new phone is there anyway ican get the pictures back from photovault onto my new phone
Lawrence,
Your photos should be automatically restored from a backup if your phone gets wiped. However, if for whatever reason the restore from iTunes failed, it is still possible to recover your photos using an iPhone Backup Extractor:
Windows: http://www.iphonebackupextractor.com/
Mac: http://supercrazyawesome.com/
These will allow you to browse the data within Private Photo Vault at the last time you backed up.
William
Leon,
I recommend your first try restoring your phone from a previous backup. If that fails, there is one other way to recover your photos:
1. Download an iPhone backup extractor.
Windows: http://www.iphonebackupextractor.com/
Mac: http://supercrazyawesome.com/
2. Launch the extractor and extract the most recent iPhone Backup and find the data for Private Photo Vault. The identifier will be com.enchantedcloud.photovault or com.enchantedcloud.photovaultpro
3. The folder that you will extract will contains folders within it with numbers starting at 0. These folders correlate to different albums. Within these folders will be your photos, the photos ending in _large will be your photos (Their filenames will be very long because photos are not meant to be viewed like this). To view them, change their extension to .jpg.
4. You can now save these photos to your computer or transfer them back to private photo vault.
Hope this helps,
William
Hi William, quick question for you. The app works good except that when I add photos to my ipad using iTunes, it wants to jumble the original order of the pics. Instead of 1, 2, 3, it’s 56, 10, 38. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just the way it is? Thanks for your help.
Hello there.
I just purchased the full version. I have an issue when looking at the pictures on the private folders, sometimes two pictures will show at the same time (half/half), and once one does it the remaining pictures being looked at do the same. I tried setting image quality, deleting and re-importing pics (I’m importing from itunes BTW, photos are not on camera roll).
Any suggestions or is this a known issue? Iphone 4S IOS 5.1, non-jailbroken.
Thanks in advance.
My ipad2 app will not let me escape from “no photos” page. There is no exit button showing. I am frozen out of viewing the shared album.
Tells me to turn on location service in settings but no option to do so in my settings
Tom,
To enable location services, this must be done from the iPhone Settings App.
William
Bill,
I suggest that you try force quitting the app by double tapping the iPad 2′s home button, then tapping and holding on Private Photo Vault and pressing the minus button.
William
Daniel,
Thanks for the feedback, I have seen this problem occur one or two times. I would look into it a bit more and see if i can fix it in an update.
William
David,
You are bring up an excellent point that I neglected to address in the design of the iTunes Album. I will take a look at updating this in an update. In the meantime, try and use the iTunes album as a temporary folder where you can move photos between other folders in the app.
William
Not cool, my pictures are still showing up in the camera roll and photo stream after importing. Using V 4.0.
I have the photo vault app and I don’t remember my password. Is there a way of resetting the password or do I have to delete the entire app and start all over? I don’t want to loose the pictures saved to the app tho…
William,
Thanks for the reply. I noticed this only happened when I transferred pictures directly from iTunes in to the app, however, when I import from camera roll or another album already on the phone there is no issue. Hope this helps with the trouble shooting.
Thanks and great app!
Daniel
Where are the photos stored on iTunes? Can’t see the, on there. I plan to change my iPad.. When I plug the new one in will everthg update automatically and all the folders I have set up all come back exactly the same?
Hi, may I know what’s the different between the “High Quality” and “Original” in “Resolution for Imported Photos” ? Because importing the original quality seems very very slow. Is the apps downsample the photo when I choose “High Quality”?
is there a way to view my photos online
Went to settings to enable location services. Can’t find in settings and can’t import photos
Are the photos I import from my iPad camera roll into the app supposed to stay in my camera roll that is accessed by my iPad Photos button? Do I have to delete photos from the iPad camera roll after importing them into the app? Thanks.
Patrick,
Yes, if you do not want your photos to be visible from the camera roll, you must manually delete them from there.
William
Tom,
The location settings are actually the location settings from your iPhone. You can access these from your device’s home screen.
William
Malcolm,
No, there is no way to view your photos online.
Wiliiam
Oliver,
Yes, the high quality is automatically downsized from the original quality photo for optimized performance. Original quality photos are slower because they are so much larger in file size. High quality still preserves a very nice quality image. You can test to see the quality difference yourself by importing the same photo in high quality and original quality.
William
hi. i have an iphone 4s. i downloaded the photo vault free version, and completely loved it! i then bought the 1.99 one because i wanted to have more albums. as soon as i bought it, i would not let me open the app. it would crash after 3 seconds of it being open. i do not know what to do!
Steve,
When you get a new iPad and want to transfer your photos from Private Photo Vault, make sure you have iTunes create a backup of your device, then when you get your new iPad, restore from this backup. This should automatically recover your photos.
Regarding where the photos are visible in iTunes, please refer to the in app instructions for iTunes Syncing.
William
Alexandra,
There is no way to reset your password for security reasons. Originally when you set up the app, it prompted you to backup your PIN to your e-mail. You may wish to check your email.
William
Jeff,
If you do not wish your photos from the Camera Roll to be seen, you must delete them from there manually.
William
Emmaleigh,
I have never heard of this problem previously and nor was it encountered during testing. I suggest restarting your phone or quitting the app from multitasking mode. (Double tap the home button – tap and hold private photo vault then tap the minus button). Let me know how this goes.
William
i have many times. i do not know what to do anymore. i keep restarting my phone, i have to newest upgrade for apple, and i quit out of the app from multitasking mode. it still does not work. this makes me very angry.
Hi William,
I posted the below question under Vault Version 3 in March but did not receive a reply, I have tried it again with the latest version i.e. 4.0 and the same problem occurs. Ie photos display and work fine on my iPhone but not iPad(1), both have the latest OS as well??????
Any ideas?
Thanks, Kelvin
Hi William,
thank you for the responses to my previous questions, yep worked perfectly
I have been having some trouble recently though (since purchasing the product) when running on my iPad, I import the photos okay via iTunes, but when I go to scroll thru them the app crashes on about the 3rd photo.. I tried moving them to a new album etc, same thing happens.
I have been trying different directories from my computer and it seems to be file size related?
when I attack files sizes of greater than 1.1 GB, it seems to then cause the crashing?
Is there a file size limit I should be aware of?
this same problem does not seem to occur on the iPhone as I have just tested it…???
Cheers, Kelvin
the program worked fine for a couple of weeks. but from one moment to the other i can’t import pics from camera roll. location access is needed, reenable location services by settinngs is required. in settings of the programm no such possibility is given, so i think i have to do this in the settings of my i-pad 4.
but i can’t find it where to do …
can any body help me?
thanx in advance
